Business TransformationSunil Rawlani Former EVP & CIO - HDFC Standard Life Business Transformation primarily involves aligning People, Process & Technology to Business Strategy. Businesses may transform structurally to achieve synergy, for example, by implementing a Hub & Spoke architecture. Businesses may transform by altering their partner ecosystem and sourcing, for example by Outsourcing and Shared Services. The objective of such transformation is to improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of business objectives. Subsequently, such improvement is translated into a deliverable for the customer and ultimately the end consumer who pays for the product or service.
Business Transformation in essence involves the refinement of the Business Strategy itself. Business can no longer dictate strategy and depend upon process and technology to align to it. By including the potential of the enabling technologies in meeting business objectives, business vision may be altered or enhanced. An example is that Nokia is the world's largest manufacturer of cameras.
In all of the above examples, enhanced consumer experience resulting in the adoption of the change made the transformation for the business successful. The benchmark for measuring Business Transformation, therefore, is increased value to customer along with an enriched experience.
